ABOUT US
Our
primary goal in raising meat goats is to promote the industry by striving to
produce and make available quality genetics.
The common perception is that breeders will not sell their best stock. We feel that it is critical to ensure
success for the industry for breeders to work together to utilize the best
genetics from our herds for a better meat goat. We want to make our best genetics available to anyone who
shares our interest and love of raising meat goats for the good of the
industry. Over the years we ourselves
have purchased quality animals from other herds in order to improve our
goats. We now feel that the quality
and consistency in our animals have reached a point where they can and have
benefited other herds in addition to our own. Check out our "Ranch Sales page". Come visit our ranch and see the animals in person. We are willing to bet you will be happy
with what you find!
Overall
herd health is an extremely important management consideration for us. We want to ensure longevity as well as
optimum productivity in our herd as well as any animals we sell. We had the opportunity of working with UC
Davis at our former location in Dixon CA.
Since then we have been on a regular schedule for vet visits, which
include health, nutrition, parasite and pasture management. In addition we test regularly for CAE and
CL.
The
general well-being of our goats is also a top priority at White Rail
Ranch. Happy goats stay healthy,
produce well and grow to their full potential. We have large pastures where the goat can run, play and browse
at their leisure. The "pit pen" and
several modified plastic drums provide opportunities to play every goat's
favorite game, "King of the Hill". In
addition to the security of the electric fences that keep potential predators
at bay, Chuck has made sure that each pen has metal panels to ensure proper
rubbing and scratching opportunities for all!
Judy
received her Judge's Certification from the American Meat Goat Association in
the Spring of 2003. I have judged
many shows across the state and truly enjoy it. My favorite part is helping the kids have a fun and educational
experience with their meat goat projects.
I would be happy to judge your next meat goat show. See our "Project Wether page" for helpful
tips from Judge Judy.
If you
are thinking about raising meat goats or simply looking for new management
ideas for your existing herd we have an "open door policy". Anyone is welcome to schedule a visit to
our ranch and we would be happy to give you "The Grand Tour". We want to help in any way we can!
Thank-you
for visiting our website. We hope
you've enjoyed it! We wish you the
best of luck with your endeavors in the meat goat industry.
